Port Moresby: Amidst the different darkness’s we encounter this festive season, let us remember and seek comfort in Jesus as our light this Christmas.
The inspirational message was delivered during a closing mass on Friday 23 December 2022, that commemorated Christmas at the Catholic Bishops Conference Centre in Waigani.
The special mass was celebrated by Fr Martin We-en, Director of Radio Maria PNG; and Fr Ambrose Pereira sdb, Social Communications Secretary of CBC.
Fr Martin described how it wasn’t easy for God to come down to Earth as a man and reminded faithful that this action signified His unwavering love and care for mankind.
“For God to become a human being was not easy because this meant forfeiting His divine Kingship Authority. The action he took was done to show his love and compassion for us, His Children,” he said.
In his emphasis on the importance of Christmas, Fr Ambrose, said that Christmas was a time to remember the birth and reason for the Christ-Child coming into the world during a time of great perplexity. “The centre of Christmas and reason for it is to remember the Christ-Child and his light shines brightly despite the many forms of darkness. The darkness is this spirit, and the people who walked in darkness have seen a great light, and this light is Christ,” he added.
Present at the eucharistic celebration were staff from CBC’s different commissions, Priests and Religious, media personnel from Radio Maria PNG, lay, youth, and children. The liturgy was facilitated by members of Christ the King Parish, Badili NCD.
