Let Your Lives Radiate INSPIRATION

AD Congregation welcomes New Sisters

Port Moresby: “Let your lives be an inspiration to others and a beacon of hope that draws them closer to Christ,” was the encouragement given to three newly professed members of the AD Sisters Congregation.

The sentiment was made by His Eminence Cardinal Sir John Ribat MSC, Archbishop of Port Moresby, during a special eucharistic celebration held on Sunday 15th January 2023, at the Nazareth Annunciation Church of Laloki.

The religious all from Milne Bay Province were Maria Kawedidi, Rhonda Gwedi, and Anne Vite. Cardinal Ribat presided over the mass as its main celebrant, and concelebrating it were Fr Angelo Sanchez sdb; Fr Jeremiah Paraha; Fr Carroll Tovamle msc; and Deacon Augustine Karovi op. The mass had as its theme, ‘I am the Lord’s servant. May it happen to me as you have said. (Luke 1:38)’.

In his homily, Cardinal Ribat, reminded the nuns to always remember God in their lives and highlighted the importance of a strong prayer life. “Every person has a vocation designed by God for each of us. Just as Samuel answered the call of Yahweh, you too have been called by name, and you heard,” he said.

“Build a strong prayer life to closely follow and obey Him. Constantly remind yourself of God’s call in your life, so that you may draw strength, joy and faith in Him to live your lives confidently. Always remember the verse from John 15:16 ‘You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you’. Let your life be an inspiration to others and a beacon of hope that draws others closer to Christ, he added.

On behalf of them all, Sr Anne in her speech, extended her gratitude to everyone that helped and supported them throughout their journey. “We would like to extend our gratitude to our benefactors Mr and Mrs Orea, our fellow-sisters, and families who generously supported us especially financially in our formation training.,” she said

The ceremony had the religious profession of vows, where the sisters knelt in front of the altar with burning candles and pronounced their three Evangelical Vows’, the Vows of Chastity, Poverty and Obedience. All three later signed their vows on the altar as the Superior-General and Cardinal Ribat witnessed their signing in. The sacrament of communion followed before the final recession and taking of group photographs.

A week prior, the sisters attended an 8-Day Retreat from 5th – 12th January 2023, at the Nazareth House of Prayer. The program was facilitated by Fr Martin We-en, Director of Radio Maria PNG.

Choir and liturgy were presented by the AD Sisters and friends, whilst media coverage was provided by personnel from Radio Maria PNG.
